HPCompaq site says that they don't recommend installing WIN2K on the Presario 7478. I don't know why but it worked PERFECTLY for me. I made sure to verify that I had the VIA 8501 chipset. Then I extracted the files to a temp directory and ran Setup.exe it automatically installed and prompted for restart. Upon reboot it came up with a nice blue background which indicated that it worked. All I had to do was rightclick on the desktop and select PROPERTIES and the SETTINGS TAB and set my SCREEN AREA and COLORS appropriately. I did sign up for the HP site survey and told them how I felt about their lack of support.

Before installation screen display was screwy with an old 15 in CRT monitor with an 4 yr old Micron PC. Tried changing the frequency different display sizes etc only worked in safe mode. Only solution was using this driver and it's been sweet ever since. Not using this card for gaming.
