I'm reinstalling Windows SE on a Compaq Presario Model 7594. The Intel 810E video drivers work well but the ESS sound drivers don't. As usual Compaq cobbled up the works so that the normal ESS 1888 drivers won't work. I tried several drivers from the HPCompaq web site and none worked. This is the only one that worked well right quotout of the box.quot The installFortemediaon is a little quothinquiequot because that's the way Compaq quotSoft Paq'squot all are. You have to execute the file first to get the quotsetup.exequot file. It might have been better to upload quotsetup.exequot instead of the quotsp8485.exequot file.

Although I have given this driver a bad score it could be hardware related. However I couldn't get the card to talk to my ADSL router even though all activity lights on card and router were good.
