After much hassle I discovered that this driver openhci.sys is only one of the four drivers needed for USB. You also need usbd.sys usbhub.sys and usbui.dll.All four of these files are found in the quotusb.zipquot file found on this website. I recommend that anybody who had problems with this driver to give usb.zip a try.

Did not work at first so I did the opposite to the readme file and Hey Presto my PC sang I used the SB16 settings and left the preferred device unticked in the Multimedia properties dialogue in control panel
