My NIC seems to identify as part of the VIA chipset but none of the VT6103 drivers worked with it.

The driver worked for me. Had the same problem wTV sound. To fix try running initializRealtekon wizard on the 'display' section of TV setup. Select 'line in' when you get to the audio input pulldown menu. Then you have to close TV viewer and restart it for it to take effect.
